Impressive and rare elm wheelbarrow
English mid 19th Century.
Rarely have we seen such a good example as this fine English wheelbarrow dating from the mid 19th Century constructed entirely of rare English elm.
Battle scars exist but clearly it has been very valued in its working life and the repairs are simply delightful and very primitive, but functional.
It simply oozes country charm and Its clear that this wheelbarrow has been required for its use, hence the repairs. Being elm it has had its share of woodworm (long since dead) but we have soaked it twice in woodworm treatment as a precaution.
Its a solid as a rock and is without doubt the best example we have owned - to keep or not to keep, that is the question?
