Mid Century Marcel Breuer Wassily Chair
Mid Century Marcel Breuer Wassily Chair
Wassily Chair - Marcel Breuer
A good, high quality Mid Century Wassily Chair originally designed by Marcel Breuer.
Whilst still an apprentice at the Bauhaus school, Hungarian designer Marcel Breuer drew his inspiration from a steel bicycle handlebar to create an innovative and minimalist chair: the Wassily Chair.
A style icon, the Wassily Chair is a veritable structural game with steel tubing that is symbolic of the "minimum" that an armchair should have. This armchair has minimalist lines that are all it needs to exist: lines for its frame and a leather covering to support the sitter's body.
These (two) were originally purchased in Barcelona, Spain in the early 1960’s and returned to the uk some 20 years ago with their then owner and we suspect these were produced in the early 60’s too…
They are in extraordinarily good condition the beautiful black leather is crisp and shows just the right amount of wear in all the right places.
The frames are bright and clean and corrosion free.
Dimensions: 30.5” (78cm) wide x 26” (66cm) deep x 29” (74cm) high. Seat depth 19” (48cm) x seat width 18” (46cm)
