Early and primitive folk art brass Holy Trinity Knot
Early and primitive folk art brass Holy Trinity Knot
A rare and unusual brass Holy Trinity Knot
The triquetra is a tripartate symbol composed of three interlocked fish marking the intersection of three circles. It is most commonly a symbol of the Holy Trinity (Father, son, Holy spirit) used by the Celtic Christian Church.
This very unusual and early item was discovered in Cornwall and was said to have adorned a fishing boat for many years, we think that maybe the item itself was thought to keep the fishermen safe whilst at sea.
It has a wonderful primitive feel and presence and is crudely decorated as the fish.
In great order for its age and history.
